STRICTLY stars have crowned a dancing duo from the Dales as the winners of a glitzy competition,
Christine and John Thompson, of Baslow, were presented with a glitter ball trophy by Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova, professional dancers from the hit show.
The couple took part in a Strictly Come Dancing break and beat five other couples with their waltz to Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Christine, who retired last year after 26 years as a seamstress at Chatsworth House, said: "We've been ballroom dancing for about seven years, however we have been dancing together for 47 years. Our favourite dance is rock 'n' roll but for the competition with a live band we chose a waltz."
